DEVLOG 5: Exciting Times

·

Strong progress continues on the project. There’s also excitement of getting into the actual philosophy now. Till now I was focused on explaining what I’m trying to do and why I’m doing it and pre-empting any objections.

But all that is done for now and there’s excitement ahead.

Completed Tasks

  • Changed the Home page to be a general introduction to the website.
  • Made the Philosophy page the new introduction to the philosophy section of the website.
  • Finished the shallow path journey on Start Here page. This is a crash course through the main ideas that I have, without making it too complicated.
  • Finished the ItRaP page. Changed ItRaN to Iterative Rational Philosophy, to allow for maximum adoptability.
  • Finished the Hritos page. This introduces the main philosophy well.
  • Added a Principles page. This is like a manifesto for iterative rational philosophy.
  • Added the Axioms page.
  • Edited the Epistemology page to be an introduction and provide links to three main claims in the categories of Knowledge, Reason and Truth.

Reflections

Woohoo! Got a lot done! Not only will this make it easier for new comers to my website to get my project, but it has also helped me understand how to present it and how to develop it.

During this phase, there were times when I was getting overwhelmed and negative. I had attempted to write my entire philosophy as a book earlier and I assembled all those topics that I want to talk about into the ItRaP and Hritos sections and it so much, the scope was so vast, it was so ambitious that it started to feel delusional.

I had joked with my friend back then that the book I was attempting should be called: Rudya Aditya’s Opinions on The Universe, Life and Everything.

Thankfully, the positive feedback loops that I’ve built, fitness, diet, sleep etc., helped me get out of the negative stage very quickly. I remembered that one part of developing philosophy as a software is to start with a minimum viable philosophy.

So, I ruthlessly cut everything I wanted to say to only things that are essential for the overall philosophy to make sense. I’ve broken it down into single claims that I’ll be presenting. Even after all the cuts, the roadmap document have over 50 items.

This brought on another short wave of negativity because I realized that it’s going to take a long time. I had set an unrealistic deadline of July end which meant doing at least 3 claims per day, which is insane. Even though these are claims I’ve been developing for a long time, to finish them so quickly would be impossible.

I realized that I just need to change my expectations. Instead of trying to do it in a big rush in a short time, I’m not aiming to do it slowly with a focus on building a balanced daily routine.

My morning routine is already perfect. I’m running a lot, despite the monsoon. After breakfast, I start work and then I keep doing it till bedtime with breaks in between to chill, either with watching some sports or a show. Right now going through a 30 Rock phase. Liz Lemon is so funny!

But instead of doing it this way, I’ll try to work till evening, without breaks that involve watching stuff. Save the watching for the evening. And I’ll try to do a hobby; currently ink drawings, at night.

A wall of ink drawings.

I’ve realized that if you can make time to do some productive hobby, instead of vegging out in front of a screen, you don’t feel that overwhelmed by work.

I want to have the first version of my philosophy up before I start focusing on the awareness part of my funnel through YouTube videos. The new deadline for doing this is a vague September mid or end. Building a good routine is as important as finishing the project.

  • Disambiguation of Reason.
  • Argument for Truth claim.
  • Logic section revision.

Hope to get these done by DEVLOG 6 in a week or ten days.
