Happy Birthday to Me

·

This is it guys. I did it. Woohoo! I completed another year on this here planet. What an achievement! You know, there was a moment last year where time stopped and it wouldn’t move forward and I didn’t know if I would be able to complete the year or not but then I pushed really hard and made time move again and here we are.

There’s a joke in The Big Bang Theory where Leonard says that his mother never allowed him to celebrate his birthday because being born wasn’t his accomplishment. My INTJ brain doesn’t go, “Awwww that’s so sad!” when it hears this joke. It goes, “That makes sense.

Talking about TBBT, if you’re like Sheldon, yes the first paragraph was sarcasm.

Birthdays are only good for one thing, according to me, and that is to create your own calendar. My new year starts on 7th March because that’s the day I came out of my mother on this here planet. This year my week begins on Friday and ends on Thursday. This year my months are only 4 weeks long. After three months of 28 days each, I get one holiday week. Then the next month begins. At the end of the year I will have one extra day added to the last holiday week. Every Thursday is off and every alternate Wednesday is also off. So I have short weekend and long weekend alternating every week. Combining the long weekend on the last week of the third month with the holiday week gives me a 9 day holiday at the end of each quarter.

Most people will read that and go, “Huh? What? What the hell are you talking about? Why would you make your own calendar?

I’d say to most people, “Why aren’t you doing the same?

Because I’m not crazy,” most people will say.

Oh okay. Copy that.” I’ll say.

This will leave most people in silence and I’ll slip away before they can say something else to me. It won’t be weird because most people and me are good friends. They know how I am. They’ll be like, “That’s Rudya!

And when I’m alone back in my room, I’ll say, “I can’t believe most people settle for material goods as their birthday gift. I gift myself a new calendar every year!

Here’s the Rudyan Calendar if anyone is interested.
